horror author & alternative model

Cristalena Fury is a Philadelphia based horror and tragedy writer as well as an aspiring alternative model. She grew up writing short stories on an old typewriter but also strutted her stuff around the house, pretending to be the next Vanna White.

2013 proved to be the year of long-lost dreams becoming reality. Cristalena was given the opportunity to become a copy editor and staff contributor for Temple University’s Ambler campus newspaper, The Temple Column.  That same year she also launched her first blog, which reviewed horror books and movies. In 2014 she penned an article for Irresistible Fusion Magazine on insider tips for getting published as a model. 2015 saw the release of her short story Willow Manor in the Tales From the Grave anthology, which was published alongside stories written by her niece Karly Malone and longtime friend Patrick Alven. A short story entitled Within appeared in Classique Elegance Magazine later that year.

2013 was also the year that Cristalena stepped a high heeled foot into the glamourous – sometimes not so glamourous! – world of modeling, then under the name Lucky Breaks. She was fortunate enough to experience a wide range of photo shoots from the beginning, ranging from classic pinup to sexy boudoir and outright horror, with a few alternative styles and fashion shoots thrown in between. She has since become an internationally published alternative model who has appeared in over sixty publications in over twenty-five separate magazines and calendars.

Her most notable achievements were landing coveted covers and back covers for Alt Girls Magazine and Gothesque, respectively. 2017 was perhaps Cristalena’s biggest year for acccomplishments. She briefly modeled for GothCentral.com, partook in a runway show for All Things Bridal in The Elegant Bridal Show at The Bucks Club, and even filmed a commercial in Philadelphia for Tower Health.

Since Cristalena is both a writer and a model, she is influenced by anything and everything she experiences in life, usually crafting ideas spur of the moment.  This ultimately results in her endlessly texting herself character names and plot points or shoot locations and wardrobe ideas.  She has several short stories already written, with plenty more started and even more ideas floating around just begging to be developed and written.

Cristalena hopes to self-publish a collection of short stories within the next few years but is submitting short fiction and poems to magazines for (hopeful!) publication in the meantime. She is also aiming to take part in more photoshoots that are of a gothic, horror or alternative style and would ultimately love to partner with a clothing company as a brand ambassador and add more film credits to her resume.
